How Swimming Pool Sand Filters Work

The diaphragm in the swimming pool shell divides its inner cavity into an upper cavity and a lower cavity, and the upper cavity is equipped with a plurality of filter elements, so that the filter space is utilized and the volume of the filter is significantly reduced.
Swimming pool sand filter filtration principle：
Generally, quartz sand of a certain scale is placed in the sand tank. Within a certain range, the size and specifications of quartz sand are different. In the sand tank, quartz sand is arranged from top to bottom and from small to large. During normal filtration, water enters from the upper layer of sand and comes out from the lower layer. When water flows through the filter layer from the top, some solid suspended substances in the water enter the tiny pores formed by the upper filter material, and are trapped by the surface layer of the filter material by adsorption and mechanical retention. At the same time, these trapped suspended substances overlap and bridge each other, just like a film is formed on the surface of the filter layer, which continues to filter the suspended substances in the water. This is the so-called membrane filtration of the filter material surface layer. This kind of filtration not only exists on the surface of the filter layer, but also has this kind of interception when water enters the intermediate filter layer. To distinguish it from the filtration of the surface layer, this kind of filtration is called osmotic filtration.
Usage of swimming pool sand filter:
The filtration procedure of durable pool sand filter is: firstly, press the handle on the cylinder head controller and push it to filter for normal filtering, then start the water pump, and the water will be introduced into the water inlet of the sand tank through the water pump, then slip into the water separator from the water inlet, and then flow into the sand tank. After being filtered by the sand layer, the water will flow into the bottom of the sand tank, then into the main filter pipe through the filter pipe, and the water will flow up to the outlet in the pipeline, and then be transported to the lower treatment equipment by the pipeline system or back to the pool.
After a period of time, the accumulated dirt will affect the water flow. At this time, it is necessary to clean the sand cylinder. First, turn off the water pump, press the handle on the cylinder head controller and push it to BACKWASH, then turn on the water pump, and the water will enter the water separator at the bottom of the sand tank from the filter head. The water will flush the sand layer from the bottom to discharge the dirt in the sand layer. At this time, dirty water can be seen in the transparent part of the drainage pipe. When backwashing is finished, turn off the water pump, press the handle of the cylinder head controller to RINSE, and turn on the water pump to rinse the dirt in the pipe and discharge the sand cylinder. After about half a minute, turn off the water pump, press the handle on the cylinder head controller and push it to FILTER normal filtration, and turn on the water pump.
Installation of swimming pool sand filter:
The installation and maintenance of high quality pool sand filter is very simple, just need screwdriver, wrench, PVC glue and sealing tape for sealing plastic union.
1.The sand tank swimming pool filter should be placed on the horizontal concrete or a firm surface with the same hardness. In addition, the location where the sand tank swimming pool filter is installed should be convenient for the connection of pipelines, the operation of control valves and the maintenance of the sand tank swimming pool filter.
2.Filling of sand filter, sand filter should be filled from the upper opening of the swimming pool filter.
3.Install the control valve to the ice pool filter.
(1) the control valve (with sealing ring) is put in from the upper port of the swimming pool filter, and it should be noted that the swimming pool filter must be put in. Align and insert the center tube of the switch with the hole at the bottom of the switch.
(2) Tighten the nut with a wrench to connect the control valve and the swimming pool filter.
(3) Install the pressure gauge (with sealing ring) at the screw hole of the main body of the control valve, and do not tighten it too tightly.
4.The nozzle of the valve body marked with "PUMP" is connected with the water pump, and the pipeline returning to the swimming pool and the control valve are marked with "RETURN" Nozzle, the control valve is marked "WASTE". Nozzle is connected with the sewage pipe.
5.Connect the water pump isolator to the water inlet of the water pump, and install the pumping pipe of the water pump.
6.Connection of water pump power supply system, the water pump should be equipped with appropriate leakage protection switch.
7.Check the tightness of pipeline connection, and no leakage is allowed.
